What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is an extremely efficient and effective way to get into great shape. Our aim is to improve your ability in ten recognized fitness domains: cardio-respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. The result is comprehensive physical fitness and restored vitality.

Do I need to be fit to join?
No. CrossFit is designed to be all inclusive. Which means that it is for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. If you care about health, real-world application, or just want to look better, CrossFit is for you.
What if I'm REALLY out of shape?
You will be fine. Trust us. Try out our CFUnloaded class or attend a community workout on the 1st Saturday of every month...no pressure.

What is CrossFit Unloaded?
Our take on a traditional "bootcamp class". These sessions are dedicated to teaching you the proper technique for all the fundamental lifts and will include a body weight workout that will build your cardio-respiratory endurance. The majority of sessions are team oriented, giving you the opportunity to build relationships with others in class.
What happens at a Community Workout?
Each Community Workout contains a brief introduction to the methodology of CrossFit, after which you will learn perfect form in a couple of simple, functional movements, which will then be pieced together into a CrossFit workout. You are welcome to join us in as many Community Workouts as you would like. However, after just one we are sure you will be hooked.
What should I expect my first couple of weeks?
Expect to train at a VERY moderate pace. We want you to learn PROPER FORM in everything first, then CONSISTENTLY MOVE WELL, and finally INCREASE THE INTENSITY. Expect to be sore. There is no way to get around it and it is completely normal. You can help speed the recovery process by drinking plenty of water, getting adequate sleep, and doing 10-15 minutes of foam rolling and mobility before bed every night. During this time it is important to continue following a training schedule. It is often good to still workout and take it down a notch if you need to. The goal here is to just move. Keep your head up and know that with character, commitment, and camaraderie, you WILL reach your goals.
Will CrossFit make me bulky?
I have never done CrossFit, but I am really fit. Can I skip right to the "good stuff"?
No. We require everyone take 4 One-on-One personal training sessions to learn the fundamentals. This ensures that all of our athletes have a good foundation of safe and effective movement. This also makes the group classes better for everyone, since we do not have to start from scratch each time a movement is used.
How much is a membership?
We have a variety of choices, but CrossFit's value cannot be determined simply by looking at the price. Come in for a free Intro Class and leave with all the information you need to make an educated decision. But, if price is what you are after, check out our RATES page.
Why is CrossFit so expensive compared to other gyms out there?
CrossFit is often difficult to compare to other gyms or programs you may find. Every session is planned and implemented by a certified CrossFit trainer. At CrossFit Utica, there will be a maximum of ten (10) athletes in class which will allow the coach to give every athlete proper guidance and instruction to ensure proper form and safety at all times. Your CrossFit Utica coach will hold you accountable, be a friend, help you with your nutrition and care about your life outside the gym. This is unlike a typical gym where you just pay to use the equipment with no guidance or personal attention. When you think of CrossFit Utica we want you to think of the Cheers theme song, "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" by Gary Portnoy and Judy Hart Angelo.
